Case Study
This project was created for the Movie Making Throughout The Bay, Inc. (MMTB) Producers Challenge 2019. The challenge required the script to include the following elements: an item, a location, a character, and a verbal statement. All specific elements for each category were provided by MMTB prior to pre-production.
The director and I collaborated with a talented writer who provided a completed script with the designated elements included. As producer, I set a schedule which included: casting, hiring crew, location scouting, script breakdown, and more. In addition, I worked with the executive producer to determine budget and with the director on creative vision of the film - from props and costumes to set design and on-site logistics.
Production took four days on-site at four locations. I obtained the required permits, insurance, waivers, and organized the logistics of equipment setup and take down. Also, acted as line producer to make sure filming was on time and on budget. Addressed needs of cast and crew with the executive producer regarding craft services, breaks, and more. I also was the official on-site behind-the-scenes still photographer to document the amazing work everyone was creating.
In post-production, I developed the marketing collateral, trailer, title sequence, and end credit sequence. The director, executive producer and I worked through the editing process till picture lock. We then worked with the composer on the original score. Once all the post work was completed, I communicated with our fans/followers through social media posts, website, and email.
The Epiphany “IPA beer” prop was based off of the fictitious brand I created in design school. I designed the prop packaging using the Ephihany branding I developed, constructed all the labeling, and fabricated the bottle carrier for the actor to interact with on set during filming.
The poster inspiration was to make it look like a book cover and represent the main character’s journey. The color shift from darker in the lower part to the lighter top portion illustrates the despair into hope as he gains inspiration throughout the story. The poster photo was taken by me on location and was the perfect setting to illustrate growth, hope and perseverance.
The movie poster was accepted in the Action on Film MegaFest 2020 Poster Competition and the Hollywood Dreams International Film Festival 2020 Poster Competition.
